OUR FIRST CONTEST!!! A SIGNED COPY OF "ALVOR" BY LAURA BINGHAM

HERE IT IS....WE PROMISED, AND WE DELIVER! WE ARE GIVING AWAY A SIGNED COPY OF THE AWESOME BOOK "ALVOR" BY LAURA BINGHAM! READ BELOW FOR RULES:

Ok, first of all, you MUST check out the last 2 posts, the review of "ALVOR", just so you want to win the book THAT MUCH MORE and also Dave's interview with Laura.

Since it is our first contest and we
do want to gain as many followers as we can, we are going to make this sort of easy and give you several chances to win. Once it is over, there is a website that will randomly pick a winner for us (pretty cool!)

THE RULES:

WHEN: Contest ends 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 6th, 2009. (we know it's 3 weeks, but it is our first contest!) The winner will be notified by email and posted on the site on Monday, September 7th, 2009.

HOW TO ENTER: This was the tough part for us. We are a fairly new site and are trying to get as many new followers as possible so that is what we are going to base our entries on. You can have multiple entries. The more you do, the more chances you have to win, so here goes:

+1 for posting in the blog. Please tell us what you would do if you had a magical brooch and could change it into anything you wanted to! What is a magical brooch? If you read the review and interview, you will definitely find out! Also, please leave your email address in the first post so we can contact you if you are the winner.

+2 for following us (current followers start with +3 with their post)

+1 for linking our site to yours (include link)

+1 for posting about our site (contest) on another site, max 5 (include link)

+1 for every person that sees your post elsewhere and mentions your name in their post

Thats it! So there are many ways to gain entries. 10 possible pts for each of you (11 for current followers) + the additional ones from people who mention you, don't forget those, as they can add up! If and when the posts hit 200, we will post a second page for the contest!

Also, keep an eye out for our second contest to be held very soon for an ARC of James Dashner's " The Maze Runner "

THANKS AND GOOD LUCK!!!

  1. Wow, that has got to be the coolest autograph ever! Look at it, it's so neat! (In both senses of the word.)

OMG! Sept. 7th is my birthday!!! What a coincidence that the contest ends precisely on that day...

Good rules. I think I can handle a lot of them...

I finished reading Farworld: Waterkeep, by J. Scott Savage, rather recently, and that was a pretty good story. All about magic and saving two worlds and bringing all the elements together... lots of fun.

And I'm also very much looking forward to reading Lisa Mangum's Hourglass Door, because I was able to read the first chapter somewhere on her site and I loved it!!! It has to be good! (This doesn't count as another point, does it? =P)

Oh, and thanks for making the contest spread over for so long. Now I won't have to think about it too much after I enter. After I do those couple other things, like publicizing your site, that is...

    bettinaKlevy@gmail.com

btw, you guys are doing a great job so far with this site! I'm sure it will become a big hit within a year. ^,~

  2. Wickedosity! I put up a link on GrahamChops and I'm a follower now, but when I tried to see it on my blog, it wasn't showing up right away. Can you guys see the blog links on the right hand side?

  3. Magenta and Graham,
You are both good to go, I did see the links. Thanks! Remember that you can get more entries by posting about the contest on other sites and having people mention your name if they post here. I will be psoting the contest for Dashner's ARC of "Maze Runner" probably later tonight. (hard to do while at work) Also, I will be announcing yet another giveaway besides the ones mentioned in earlier posts of an ARC of Kristin Cashore's "Fire" which is the prequel to "Graceling" which I LOVED! Thanks guys and keep up the good work.

  8. If I had a magical brooch I'd turn it into a washing machine and dryer set that would do all the laundry, fold it and put it away for me. Or maybe make a house that would clean itself. Or some really great earplugs for when the kids are practicing their sword fighting and jousting. Ninjas are so much quieter!

I don't have a blog so I can't link to you or post about you, but I really enjoyed your review. If I don't win the book I'll totally have to buy it.

I'm very much looking forward to Dashner's new book as well as Suzanne Collins' book, Catching Fire. I've been reading a lot of children's American history lately....I need a fun break!!!

  9. Thank you all for entering so far. Remember, you can get more entries by going to other sites and posting a link to the contest and have them mention your name for even more entries. Just to let you all know, we received the copy of "FIRE" by Kristin Cashore today and we will be giving it away soon (3 contests at the same time is way too much!) If it comes out soon, then it doesn't matter, you still get an ARC of the book, but we will try to get it up before that. It is the prequel to "Graceling" which like we said, was just an awesome book! Thanks much and talk to you all soon! Keep up the good work!

  13. +1 I would definitely turn into a wolf. I live in "the country", so we have a lot of wooded areas around my house. I'd love to explore them, but they aren't always welcoming to people. So, turning into a wolf would be a perfect way to get around that.

    +2 I follow you!

  16. Hey! If I had a magical brooch that could turn into anything, I would have it turn into a book! OH YES!A book that tells me what REALLY happened in Abraham Lincoln's life! But,under teh circumstances, I would like it to turn into a key! ;) http://g-o-disl-o-v-e.blogspot.com/2009/08/alvor.html is the web address to my blog post where I have linked your site and talked about the contest! :D my email address is callieelizabethdean@hotmail.com

  17. What would I do with a magical brooch? Well, that depends on how many times I can use it. Just once? Any time I have a need? What would happen if I turned it into chocolate and ate it? On second thought, perhaps I'd better stick to something I can't consume -- I could turn it into a time machine! Or maybe a special set of headphones that would block out all the surrounding noise and replace it with gentle sounds, so that I can write without distractions. Or maybe a Star Trek type transporter so that I could see the world and even the galaxy without the trouble of actually travelling. The possibilities are endless ... and my chances of winning are miniscule, but I'm going to post this anyway.

    Thanks for the contests!

  18. Hi. Just wanted to say how very impressed I am with the many entrants in your contest so far. Also, the amount of people following you is really cool (though, admittedly, a little enviable. ~_~)

I noticed that a lot of people started saying what they would do with a magical brooch that could turn into anything you wanted, apparently as in the Alvor story. So I thought I'd say what my brooch would change into, just for kicks...

Hazra, good for you for thinking of turning it into any book you want to read. That's a capital idea! (Ha ha. Made me sound British, that expression, didn't it? ^,^) But I want to be original, so here's my idea:

A kind of remote control time-stopper. It's like the one from the movie Click, only pause is it's only function. All I want it to do is freeze everything when I feel like it, so I can sit at the computer for hours at a time and write in my story, without getting distracted at all! Then when my writer's juice is depleted, I can press play and it'll be like no time has passed in the real world!

    That's my two cents...

  19. You can use the brooch as many times as you want....it is yours to keep! Just don't lose it. If you saw my post on one of the other sites, you would know why I am about to say this...I probably at least for starters , use it to turn into any book you want to read (i loved that one) and then probably a Black Amex so i could just go use it. I don't even have to get anything expensive....I would go buy a slice of pizza just to whip it out...oh year, and get into the Lamborghini I rented for the day to go get the slice of pizza... Jeez i'm getting tired and losing my mind....I couldn't even think right now what I would do....Ill have to get back to you all on that one, but keep them coming and keep up the book suggestions....Sharing is what we are all here for!

  20. Okay, I posted about the contest at my blog http://greyplaces.blogspot.com/ and put in a link to your blog.

I think if I had a magical brooch that I could turn into anything, I'd turn it into an agent, who was also an editor, and was madly in love with my manuscript and seeing it published!

Oh, and I already follow you, so that's 3, right? I've already lost count on the total... I'm going to try and link my blog to yours as well. That ought to turn out interesting considering my computer skill... I'll get back with you on the result. Yay for coffee! Going now, before the caffeine wears off.. :)

  21. If I had a magical brooch I would want it to turn into a person from another world. That person would be a flamboyant young wizard with blond hair and lots of green streaks, and he would show me a portal to his world, and let me go back with him. He would also have a little furry friend.....let's see...a golden retriever. Perfect.

  22. Alright, it's driving me crazy. You can't change the brooch into anything living or very large.

Whew. Glad to get that out.

Now, think of small inanimate objects- and please don't eat your changing brooches. I don't think that would work out very well.
