HERE IT IS!!! CONTEST FOR THE ARC OF "THE MAZE RUNNER" BY JAMES DASHNER

THE TIME HAS COME SHANKS! One of my favorite all time books, "The Maze Runner".....We have a new, shiny ARC (as you can see in the picture) just waiting to be read by 1 lucky as heck winner! The book comes out on October 6th, 2009 and wouldn't it be cool if you didn't have to wait that long to read it?? Well, we thought that what we would do here is have the contest end on September 6th, exactly 1 month before this book hits the shelves. It will be open to anyone and everyone.

**BY THE WAY, We just want to announce that coming soon will be yet another hot new ARC giveaway by Kristin Cashore of "Fire", the prequel to her best selling hit "Graceling"...keep your eyes open for further details and other books we have to give away. Back to business...the winner will be picked by a site that picks the winner randomly by us entering all of your entries (I still think thats such a cool thing!)

THE RULES:

WHEN: Contest ends on Sunday, September 6th, 2009 at exactly 11:59 p.m. EST The winner will be notified by email (so make sure you include your email address) and posted on the site on Monday, September 7th. Heres is what ya gotta do....

HOW TO ENTER: there are a number of ways to gain entries to the contest. Whether you choose to just enter once, or have multiple entries, for this contest, the more entries the better your shot as I have a feeling there will be many entries to compete with....but, it's all up to you...here is how to get your entries:

+1 for posting in the blog (about a great book you recently read or a favorite book of yours as we love suggestions) and leave your email address in the first post please.

+2 for following us (current followers start with +3 with their post)

+1 for linking our site (this contest) to yours (include link)

+1 for posting about our site (this contest) on another site, no max, the more you post, the more chances you have to win! (include links)

+1 for every person that sees your post elsewhere and mentions your name in their post

+2 for going and checking out the review AND interview posts about the other contest I am currently holding for a signed copy of "ALVOR" by Laura Bingham, as well as entering to win her book....in your entry for ALVOR, post the name of Erin's dragon friend so we know you read the posts :O) Trust us, it's definitely worth it, and if you don't trust us, trust Mr. Dashner himself, who posted how much he enjoyed Laura's book ON IT'S BACK COVER! The coolest thing is that the main characters are given a magical brooch that they wear and it can be changed into anything they want it to be! Boy do I wish I had one of those!! Imagine what you could do with that!! If and when the posts hit 200, we will start a second post to continue the contest.

Seems like a lot of work, but it doesn't have to be. You can simply just enter once to win, after all, it only takes a post and a dream! Obviously the more you do, the more of a chance you have to win. GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING IN OUR JOYS OF READING!!

I guess a great book i read lately was the hunger games by suzanne collins. I am excited as her new book comes out soon i think. Another mom had suggested I read it and it was sad to see all those children put into that psition, but still, a very well written story.

  6. I did read the review for Alvor, and I want to win that too!!! I have no blog to link to. To be perfectly honest we're just entering the 21st century and got cell phones a few months ago. What's a blog again? Haha, just kidding. My email address is twoboysnagirl (at) hotmail (dot) com.

Hm, a prequel to Graceling. I will have to check that out.

    Erin's dragon friend is Pulsar.

As far as good books, I love the Percy Jackson series, Fablehaven series, Leven Thumps series and am seriously liking anything by Suzanne Collins. And of course, James Dashner! Off the beaten track a bit but I loved Carry On, Mr. Bowditch and A Girl Named Zippy. I also have read Electronic Echoes of the Mind a few too many times - so funny.

  7. And for grown-ups girls I love Austenland. For your daughters Ella Enchanted is one of my favorites of all time. I have all boys so most of our reading is focused on boy stuff, but Percy Jackson and the Gregor series by Suzanne Collins have great, strong female characters.

  12. Okay, I will definitely post a link to my blog.

A favorite book I recently read is Whisper My Name to the Grass by Doris Platt. It's the story of a Utah housewife who took her twin daughters on a trip to the Republic of Georgia when it was still part of the Soviet Union. She saw such a huge need for humanitarian aid that she devoted nearly twenty years of her life going back and forth between Utah and Georgia, helping the people of that country. She was there during that country's civil war. She even became a special advisor the the President of Georgia. It just goes to show what a huge difference one person can make. It's a fascinating read. All true.

The name of the dragon is Pulsar.

I would love, love, love to win a copy of The Maze Runner.

  13. Thank you all for entering so far. WE LOVE THE BOOK IDEAS and hope you do too from each other! Remember, you can get more entries by going to other sites and posting a link to the contest and have them mention your name for even more entries. Just to let you all know, we received the copy of "FIRE" by Kristin Cashore today and we will be giving it away soon (3 contests at the same time is way too much!) If it comes out soon, then it doesn't matter, you still get an ARC of the book, but we will try to get it up before that. It is the prequel to "Graceling" which like we said, was just an awesome book! Thanks much and talk to you all soon! Keep up the good work!

A suggestion for a good read is Fablehaven Book Four: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary. It is a fantastic book and I absolutely love it! Right now, it is my favorite. (Sorry James, maybe Maze Runner will soon be my favorite though.)

  19. GOOOOD MORNING ALL! Pretty cool, our site picked up 10 new followers yesterday, in our first full day of the contest ( I think...or maybe second, but either way, NICE JOB!) Some of you amaze me! You entered for this contest, and ALLLL you have to do is scroll down 1 more post and enter to win "ALVOR", which is a really, really cool book. IF you read my review you'd know that. I know I would enter. So if you have entered for Maze and you stop back to check in on things, enter for Alvor also, will ya??

I might be repeating myself again, but forgive me, I had a hard time falling asleep last night and am tired, but the kiddies want to go to the beach today so I had to get up early. SO, if I already said this, it is worth saying again.....I received an ARC copy of "Fire" by Kristin Cashore, which is the new prequel to her super hit book "Graceling", another one of my favorites. Look for the contest right around when these 2 are done. IF you have never read "Graceling", you do not know what you are missing! If you can, go grab a copy down at the local bookstore, or if you are that lazy, there is a link on the bottom of my page here to Barnes and Noble and have it shipped right to your door. "Fire" is another HOT one (OUCH! burned my fingers picking it up! well not really, and I know that was corny, but I am working on only a few hours sleep) coming out i believe right around the same time as "Maze".
Read it and I guarantee you will be asking me to post the contest about 3 seconds after these end.

I find the pattern of my posting here to be books/authors that are all the ones I love. Im toying with the idea of only posting about the books that I really like to Love only, and leaving out the ones I don't. At first, I thought that this would not be fair to all those lovely books that I feel like the author should have rather not quit their day jobs, but then on the other hand, if I don't post about the ones I don't like a lot or Love, then you'd know as they would never show up here....My mind is going in circles......I really want to just do the best thing I can to grow our site and trying to figure out how to do that. Believe it or not, we have been open for a little over a month now (actively) and have picked up 17 followers, 1 interview, a few reviews, and 2 contests. Not a bad start, considering there are 3 more interviews lined up, a countless # of reviews (which we are working on as we speak) and probably 5 or 6 signed ARC's or well, non-ARC's waiting in the wings to be given away. Our idea is to try and alway have at least 1 contest going for something.

Lastly, after those of you who haven't entered for both yet, go enter for "Alvor" as I promise you will not be disappointed if you are the winner. And another thing...don't forget, if you happen to be browsing around the net reading posts on other book blog sites or entering other contests, while you are there, throw up a link to our site and just keep the entries piling up. I work with numbers as a day job (not accountant, too boring for me and anyway, when I hear accountant, I think of the funny as heck guy from "Scrubs" whose name i forgot and i've seen almost every episode) and I know its "just a numbers game". So enter away! We hope to have a few more reviews up very soon so keep those little eyes open!

  33. I forgot to mention the name of the dragon in my post for the Alvor contest -- can I do that here? It's Pulsar.

Also, I've just finished reading Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos, by R. L. LaFevers, which is such a delightful book for both boys and girls from ages about ten and up! I just had to run over here to recommend it. Even for me as an adult it was suspenseful and funny and completely compelling.

  34. I recently read a book by Diana Wynne Jones called Howl's Moving Castle. I had heard a lot of good things about it, and I had been curious for awhile anyway, so I finally ordered it and read it. WOW!

It's about a young girl named Sophie Hatter that is the daughter of a deceased hat maker. Unknowingly, she is a gifted witch that can breath life into inanimate objects by talking to them. She attracts the attention of the infamous Witch of the Waste, who curses her, so that she turns into a very old woman! And she can't tell anybody about the curse. She decides to leave the hat shop, where she works for her stepmother, and heads into the mountains, where Howl's castle is constantly on the move. Though she was terrified of Howl because of his reputation of eating the hearts of young girls, she goes to his castle anyway, figuring he isn't going to eat the heart of an old lady like her, and enlists the help of his fire 'demon' Calcifer, a fascinating character that was once a star and uses his magic to make the castle move. Sophie becomes Howl's new cleaning lady. The book is completely hilarious. You'll fall in love with Howl, Sophie, Calcifer, Michael, and various other characters. I was reading the last chapter anxiously, and I was like, "How can she possibly tie this up in just a few pages?" but she did it beautifully. Read it! You're sure to love it.

  51. I read the Maze Runner over the summer I was skeptical of it at first and almost abandoned it in the beginning, but in the middle I sure was glad I didn't. In the Maze Runner there is a group of people who live in "The Glade" which is a peaceful area surrounded by a seemingly unsolvable maze. For many years the "Gladers" have been trapped in this Glade trying to find a way out of the maze. Every week they receive supplies and every other week they receive a new teenage boy to help them solve the maze from the mysterious people who sent these teenagers to the Glade.
